Uber School launches in Dubai, offering up to 35% savings
New service enhances student commutes with parental supervision and advanced safety features
Uber, in collaboration with Dubai’s Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), has launched Uber School, a transport service designed to offer students a safer and more affordable commute.
The service, embedded within Uber Teens accounts, aims to ease school transport for parents by providing real-time trip tracking, key safety features, and discounted fares.
With over half a million students attending school in the UAE in the first half of 2025, Uber School offers savings ranging from 15 to 35 percent. Parents can cut transport costs significantly, especially when booking multiple trips per week.
The initiative is set to redefine how students commute daily while ensuring an efficient and budget-friendly alternative to traditional transport options.
Flexible school hours
Uber School rides are available between 6AM and 6PM, allowing students to accommodate extra-curricular activities alongside their regular school schedules. The service is designed to provide convenience while maintaining strict safety protocols.
How Uber School works
To use the service, parents must set up an Uber Teens account via the Uber app. The process involves selecting the ‘Family and Teens’ option under ‘Account’ and inviting their child to join. Once the child completes a mandatory safety onboarding process, they can request rides. To opt into Uber School, parents need to fill out a registration form, after which they can start booking discounted school rides.
Safety features
Uber School integrates multiple safety features to ensure a secure journey for students:
- Real-time tracking: Parents receive live updates and notifications about each ride.
- Driver verification: Parents can view the driver’s name, vehicle details, and license plate before the ride starts.
- PIN verification: Students must enter a PIN to confirm they are getting into the correct vehicle.
- Audio recording: Trips include an optional audio recording feature for added security.
Exclusive discounts
Families using Uber School frequently can benefit from exclusive discounts. Parents can save up to 35% when booking 10 or more trips within a week, making it an attractive option for those looking to streamline their child’s daily commute affordably.
